It is understood that required Export Information must be filed in the Automated Export System (AES) prior to the date of export unless the USPPI is an approved postdeparture filer. But did you know that there are specific timeframes for filing your Electronic Export Information (EEI) which can vary depending on the items you are shipping and the mode of transport?
The Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) 30.4 specify the timeframes that the exporting community must comply with when reporting to the AES. Filing time requirements also exist for State Department controlled items (22 CFR 123.22 (b), such as items listed on the United States Munitions List (USML) and for non-USML items. The following table illustrates the requirements for both USML and non-USML shipments:
