Mario Marazzi, Ph.D.

Director of Statistics, Data Sciences, and Judicial Planning

Dr. Mario Marazzi serves as the Director of Statistics, Data Sciences, and Judicial Planning at the Puerto Rico Office of Court Administration, in the Judicial Branch. From 2007 to 2019, Dr. Marazzi served as Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Institute of Statistics (PRIS), the leading public entity in statistics on Puerto Rico, which develops and coordinates the implementation of the statistical policy of the Government of Puerto Rico.  In this position he has been responsible for leading the development of PRIS, including its research initiatives, its technical assistance programs, its training programs and its extensive collaborations with federal and international organizations.

Previously, he served as Research Economist in the International Finance Division of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, DC, where he published several articles in academic journals and two chapters on the subject of international economics.

In 2010, Dr. Marazzi served as international observer of the Population and Housing Census of Argentina.  In 2013, Dr. Marazzi was elected as the first Puerto Rican member of the International Statistical Institute.

From 2015 to 2017, he served on the Data Users Advisory Committee of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Dr. Marazzi has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University, a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics, and a doctorate in economics from Cornell University.
