Current Population Survey, Annual Social and Economic Supplement Transition Manager, U.S. Census Bureau

Lisa Cheok is the Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) transition manager in the U.S. Census Bureau’s Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division (SEHSD). Lisa’s team heads efforts to modernize the ASEC, which includes coordinating the various quantitative and qualitative sources for questionnaire and instrument evaluation data. The team is also in charge of developing the data processing specifications, survey instruments and other operational improvements.

Lisa spent 13 years in the Current Population Survey Branch (CPSB) of the Demographic Directorate - Survey Operations (ADDP-SO) area, where she managed ASEC production operations, including implementing major updates to the interviewer training, survey questionnaire and data processing systems.

Lisa has received two bronze medals: one in 2015 for contributions to fielding the congressionally mandated parallel ASEC survey and the other four years later for implementing a new processing system for the income and poverty data in the ASEC.

Lisa received a master’s degree in survey methodology and a bachelor’s degree in economics and American studies from the University of Maryland, College Park. She also received a master's certificate in project management from George Washington University.
