Chief, Health and Disability Statistics Branch, Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division, U.S. Census Bureau

Laryssa Mykyta is chief of the Health and Disability Statistics Branch in the Social, Economic, and Housing Statistics Division at the U.S. Census Bureau. The Health and Disability Statistics Branch is responsible for analyzing and publishing data collected on health insurance coverage, health status and health care utilization, and disability. These data are collected in the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC), the American Community Survey (ACS) and the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). 

Mykyta has authored several peer-reviewed articles and conference papers. Her primary research focuses on how changing economic conditions and demographic shocks influence access to health care, health and well-being for families and individuals. Recent work examines health insurance coverage measurement including an examination of sub-annual coverage and estimates of coverage by type across federal surveys, and evaluation of Medicaid capture in the redesigned Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). Mykyta was previously an assistant professor in sociology and director of the Center for Survey Research and Policy Analysis at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. 

Mykyta received her doctorate in sociology and demography from the University of Pennsylvania.
