Jennifer Kim serves as the U.S. Census Bureau’s division chief of decennial communications and stakeholder relations. She provides executive leadership over the Decennial Communication Coordination Office, Redistricting and Voting Rights Data Office, and Decennial Budget office.
Jenny began her career at the Census Bureau in 2007 and has held various leadership positions in Decennial Census Programs. After completing her doctoral degree, she joined the Census Bureau's Population Division where she provided technical assistance and training to national statistical agencies. In 2010, she joined the Decennial Directorate and served in various capacities, including outreach and promotion, content and 2020 research and planning. During this time, she led an Innovation and Operational Efficiency team that established an enterprise services office and spearheaded development of the first-ever online decennial field training.
In 2014, Jenny served as chief of the Content, Language, and Data Products Branch and as program manager of the 2015 National Content Test. Two years later, she became assistant division chief of Content, Translation, Puerto Rico and Island Areas Operations. Among her accomplishments: directing the 2020 Island Areas Censuses in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands, employing more than 2,000 local staff across the territories.
In 2022, she was appointed to the senior executive service, leading to her current role.
Jenny holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, a master’s degree from the University of Southern California, and bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. An avid traveler, she has lived in four countries and traveled to more than 20.
