Dee Alexander is a tribal affairs coordinator in the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs for the U.S. Census Bureau.
Alexander, a member of the Cheyenne Arapaho tribe of Oklahoma, has an extensive background in working with the American Indian and Alaska Native tribal population. Her career at the U.S. Census Bureau began in 1998 and as a tribal partnership specialist for the Kansas City Regional office before being recruited in 2005 to the Census Bureau’s headquarter office in Suitland, Maryland.
Alexander also serves as the tribal consultation official for the Census Bureau. She headed the 2008 development of the Bureau’s American Indian and Alaska Native Policy and in 2013, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Tribal Coordinaton and Consultation Policy. Alexander most recently completed 18 tribal consultation meetings in preparation for the 2020 Census in Indian Country and Native Alaska.
Alexander has a degree in travel and tourism and has earned a graduate certificate in project management from George Washington University.
