Infographic: Manufacturing in the United States

May 25, 2016 — Statistics from the 2014 Annual Survey of Manufactures (ASM) indicate that manufacturing establishments show gains in receipts but lower employment over time. The infographic contains three visualizations, including a time-series graph of changes in employment and receipts from 2002-2014, a comparison of employment and receipts by subsector for the years 2013 and 2014, and a domestic map illustrating manufacturing employment as a percentage of the total working age population by state. Also included in the infographic is information on which manufacturing subsectors had the largest changes in receipts and employment from 2013 to 2014, as well as the states with the highest concentration of manufacturing employees.
