For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 08, 2015

Census Bureau to Launch New Web Application to Transform How Small Business Owners Access Data

Press Release Number CB15-154

What:
The U.S. Census Bureau will host a live demonstration to debut its newest data tool, the Census Business Builder: Small Business Edition at the America’s Small Business Development Centers 35th Annual Conference in San Francisco. Over the past year, Census Bureau staff have worked with and listened to feedback from small business owners, trade associations and government agencies to provide them with a powerful tool that combines demographic and economic data to guide their research into opening a new business or expanding an existing one. In addition to a live demonstration of the tool, Census Bureau presenters will provide an overview of key demographic and economic data that entrepreneurs can use.

Census Business Builder provides business owners and entrepreneurs with data for their business research. Census Business Builder: Small Business Edition provides useful data − from the American Community Survey, Economic Census, County Business Patterns and several other data sets − in an interactive map, along with printable reports and charts.

A media availability will follow the presentation. Media may also visit the Census Bureau’s booth (booth 202) during the conference to see a demonstration of the tool.
