Media Advisory — Census Bureau to Release 25 Local Graphics and Releases For 2012 American Community Survey Data

Press Release Number CB13-163

The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday will release 25 local releases and infographics showing key changes in income and other social, economic and housing findings and changes for the nation's top 25 metropolitan areas, based on statistics from the 2012 American Community Survey.

They are available under embargo starting Tuesday at 2 p.m. EDT.

These releases will focus on median household income, health insurance coverage and the poverty rate, but also provide statistics on educational attainment, housing and the foreign-born population. The profiles compare the respective metro area with all U.S. metro areas. The metro areas profiled are listed below.

The graphics for each metro area show changes in income, poverty and health insurance since the year before the last recession.

Additional American Community Survey statistics describing these and other geographic areas with populations of 65,000 or more will be available on the Census Bureau's American FactFinder website.

The profiles will be posted to the Census Bureau's embargo site at 2 p.m. EDT tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 17. The public release will be at 12:01 a.m. EDT Thursday, Sept. 19. Wire and distribution services are prohibited from distributing embargoed news releases and data files to subscribers before the public release date and time.
