Usability testing of two Web surveys – one for secondary school principals and one for secondary school teachers- and one Control Center application were tested in Fall 2011 for the Schools and Staffing Survey team in the Demographic Surveys Division (DSD). Minimal usability issues were found with each component; the two usability issues detected during testing were a name duplication issue with the Principal Screener Survey and a repeated error message about secure content that could concern respondents with the Teacher Survey. Participants also tended not to read the warning message at the bottom of the screen for either survey, which could be problematic because this is important information. Satisfaction scores for both surveys were high, indicating that participants were satisfied with their experience completing the instruments.
