Abstract
American Fact Finder is the United States Census Bureau's new online data dissemination system that accesses data from the 1990 Decennial Census, the American Community Survey, the 1997 Economic Census, and Census 2000. Most of the data files accessed are summary files with matrices of aggregated data. An additional capability developed as a separate system, the Advanced Query System, is the production of tabulations from a query of the Census 2000 microdata files. The dissemination of tabulations online from a query of the microdata files requires special techniques for disclosure limitation. These techniques, described in this paper, are applied to Census 2000 microdata files and the Advanced Query System.
