This report proposes preliminary hypotheses being generated by a 15-month ethnographic study of Lowland Lao refugees in St. Louis. The research is supported by the Center for Survey Methods Research, U.S. Bureau of the Census. These hypotheses and supporting material will be presented in more complete form in the final report to be submitted in late 1983. Where appropriate we include a brief discussion but the hypotheses should stand on their own. Therefore there is a minimum of ethnographic detail in this report.
