Finding and Using Census Data from data.census.gov to Determine Program Qualification

We often receive questions on how to locate and use Census Bureau data to determine qualification for government grants and programs that provide assistance to individuals and families. With so many assistance programs available with differing eligibility criteria like household or family income guidelines or federal poverty guidelines, it can be difficult to understand where to find the needed data and how to use it to determine qualification. The good news is once you understand where to find the data and learn how to perform the calculations, determining program qualification can be easier than you think. In this video, using an example program, we show you how to locate the data tables on data.census.gov. We then show you how to perform basic calculations to determine qualification.
