Robert L. Santos was sworn in as the U.S. Census Bureau's 26th director on January 5, 2022 at the U.S. Department of Commerce by U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina M. Raimondo. Santos is the first Latino person to serve in the role. His appointment follows the U.S. Senate confirmation November 4, 2021, with Santos' term to last for five years.
