Southeast Alaska Association for the Education of Young Children

Organizations across the country supported the 2020 Census. We regularly featured some of them here, looking at who they are and why an accurate census is so important to them.

Southeast Alaska Association for the Education of Young Children

Organization Name: Southeast Alaska Association for the Education of Young Children

Headquarters: Juneau, Alaska

About: Southeast Alaska Association for the Education of Young Children (SEAAEYC) promotes high-quality education for children through age 8 by supporting all who teach, care for, and work on behalf of young children. The organization promoted the 2020 Census at events in January and February and provided internet access for online response at their annual conference in March. SEAAEYC is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a national census partner.

In October 2019, SEAAEYC's Community Engagement Coordinator, Nikki Love, joined Census Partnership Specialist Barb Miranda on the Juneau Afternoon show on KTOO public radio to highlight the importance of counting everyone, including children, in the 2020 Census.

“We need to do all we can to make sure parents know that everyone in their household, including babies, need to be counted in the 2020 Census.”

– Nikki Love, SEAAEYC Community Engagement Coordinator
