Detailed tabulations are now available which provide statistics on the marital status and living arrangements of the noninstituitional population of the United States, based on the March 1995 Current Population Survey. These tables provide information such as:

18.9 million children under 18 years lived with only one parent (27 percent of all children under 18).
4 million grandchildren under 18 years lived in the home of their grandparents, and 37 percent had no parent in the home.
13.6 million persons age 25 to34 years had never been married, representing 33 percent of all persons in the age group.
