How We're Changing: Demographic State of the Nation: 1989

Report Number P23-164

Overview

Presents a brief overview of some of the major demographic findings reported by the Census Bureau in 1989.

The report contains data on a variety of socio-economic subjects as population, household size, fertility, women in the labor force, and income. The report also includes information on housing such as the number of housing units and the number of vacant and occupied units.

A Note on Language

Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
