This report presents population and land area data for 27 urbanized areas (UAs) designated by the Bureau of the Census in 1974. These new UAs represent additions to the 248 urbanized areas listed in the 1970 census publications. They result from a revision in the criteria for determining the cities for which UAs are defined. However, there has been no revision in the criteria for determining the boundaries of UAs. The same criteria used to delimit the boundaries of the 248 previously defined UAs have been used to determine the boundaries of the 27 new areas. It should also be noted that the delineation of the additional UAs has not affected the boundaries of any of the already existing UAs.
