1970 Census of Population, Supplementary Report: Race of the Population by County: 1970

Report Number PC(S1)-104

The tables in this report show the geographic distribution of selected racial groups in counties across the nation in 1970. The selected racial groups include the Black, American Indian, Japanese, Chinese, and Filipino populations.

Table 1: Total population and the population of each of the five selected racial groups for each county by state, as of 1970.

Table 2: 1970 and 1960 data for counties with at least 10,000 black persons. The counties are ranked according to the size of the black population in 1970.

Tables 3, 4, 5, and 6: 1970 and 1960 data for counties with at least 10,000 American Indians, Japanese, Chinese, and Filipinos.

Table 7: 1970 and 1960 data for the 10 counties, in rank order, with the highest percentage of blacks in 1970.

Tables 8, 9, 10, and 11: 1970 and 1960 data for the 10 counties, in rank order, with the highest percentage of American Indians, Japanese, Chinese, and Filipinos in 1970.

Tables 12 and 13: For the United States, by regions, divisions, and states, the distribution of each of the selected racial groups as well as of the Korean, Hawaiian, Aleut, and Eskimo populations.
