1940 Census of Population: Characteristics of Persons Not in the Labor Force, 14 Years Old and Over. Age, Sex, Color, Household Relationship, Months Worked in 1939, and Usual Major Occupation Group

This report is based upon the tabulations of a 5-percent sample of the population returns, and presents the characteristics of persons who were not in the labor force at the time of the 1940 Census. The statistics are designed primarily for the analysis of the potential labor supply in the United States, and for the study of variations in the size of the labor force.
