1920 Census: Volume 6. Agriculture, Reports for States, with Statistics for Counties and a Summary for the United States and the North, South, and West

This is the sixth volume of the 11 final reports of the Fourteenth Census, taken in the year 1920. The statistics and other materials found in these volumes are based upon data originally issued as advance bulletins for population, agriculture, irrigation, drainage, manufactures, and mines and quarries.

Volume VI, Agriculture, was printed in three parts by geographic division.

Part 1. The Northern States.

Part 2. The Southern States.

Part 3. The Western States and Outlying Possessions.

Stats are included for number of farms, acreage, and value; farms by size; farms by tenure; farms by sex, race and nativity of farmers; farm mortgages; farm expenditures for labor, fertilizer, and feed; livestock on farms and elsewhere; livestock products; and crops. A summary for the U.S. is included in each part.

A Note on Language

Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
