This is a final Census Report on Agriculture of the Twelfth Census, taken in the year 1900.
Part I, which constitutes Volume V of the Census Reports, contains statistics on agricultural progress of fifty years; buildings on farms; changes in the center of agriculture in the United States; classification of farms by area, principal source of income, reported value of products of 1899 not fed to livestock; tenure, and color or race of farmer; value of farm products; farm labor; fertilizers; domestic animals; neat cattle, dairy cows and dairy industry; horses; mules, etc.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
