Notable Alumni John Wesley Langley
John Wesley Langley (January 14, 1868 - January 17, 1932) was a U.S. Representative from Kentucky. Prior to becoming a congressman, he worked as an examiner in the Pension Office; was a member of the Board of Pension Appeals; a law clerk in the General Land Office; a disbursing and appointment clerk of the Census Office (1899-1907) and in Kentucky House of Representatives (1886-1890).
Langley was elected as a Republican to the Sixtieth Congress and nine succeeding Congresses thereafter until resigning his office January 11, 1926. During this time, he served as chairman of the Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds (Sixty-sixth through Sixty-eighth Congresses). He resumed the practice of law in Pikeville, Kentucky, where he died on January 17, 1932.
