The Advance Economic Indicators Report provides advance statistics for U.S. International Trade in Goods, domestic retail inventories, and domestic wholesale inventories. The data for U.S. International Trade in Goods are compiled in terms of commodity classification, quantities, values, shipping weights, method of transportation (air or vessel), state of (movement) origin, customs district, customs port, country of destination, and whether contents are domestic goods or re-exports. For Monthly Wholesale Trade and Monthly Retail Trade, entities provide data on dollar values of merchant wholesale end-of-month inventories and retail end-of-month inventories respectively.

Notice: The Advance Economic Indicator Reports (AEIR) for June 2024 and September 2024 will be released a day earlier than previously announced in order to provide key data earlier to data users. The updated release dates are as follows:
June 2024: July 24, 2024
September 2024: October 29, 2024

Notice of Revision: Revisions to the Wholesale estimates were released on March 27, 2024 and are reflected in this release. Revisions to the Retail estimates will be released April 23, 2024 and will be reflected in the March 2024 Advance Economic Indicators Release scheduled for April 25, 2024. Estimates are revised to reflect the results of the 2022 Annual Wholesale and Annual Retail Trade Surveys.
API - The URL for the economic indicators data in the Census Bureau API (Application Programming Interface) has been updated to add /timeseries/. Examples can be found on the Developers' webpage.
