The Intergenerational Transmission of Employers and the Earnings of Young Workers

Description

The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute, welcomes Matthew Staiger as he presents, “The Intergenerational Transmission of Employers and the Earnings of Young Workers.” This study shows how the intergenerational persistence in earnings is shaped by jobs obtained at a parent’s employer. Combining data from the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) program and Decennial Census provides information on parent-child and employer-employee linkages.
