Description

Understanding Census Bureau geography is a critical skill for effectively and efficiently accessing and reporting data accurately. Puerto Rico geography is complex; therefore, it is important to develop a solid foundation on this topic among Puerto Rico data users. During this session, participants will learn about legal, administrative, and statistical geographies that is available for data accessing, and when to use one vs the other. They will also learn how to locate and select these geographies using data.census.gov search, hierarchical and mapping features.

Learning objectives:

  1. Learn about legal, administrative, and statistical geographies in Puerto Rico.
  2. Understand with clarity what geographic areas are available for data access for different datasets, their benefits, and limitations.
  3. Learn how to select these geographies using 3 methods on data.census.gov.
