Panel Members:
In this panel, speakers will explore several ways the Census Bureau is harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create new data products, improve operations, and promote responsible AI best practices in the process.
Speakers:
DEIA Storytelling through Dashboards: A Case Study in Creating Greater Workforce Data Transparency. The Department’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) has a story to tell about the Department’s workforce. Is DOC diverse? Are there demographic challenges? How do we know? In this session OCR’s Director and Chief Diversity Officer will walk you through new DEIA dashboards and share powerful, interesting stories about the DOC workforce, both at the aggregate level and at the bureau level. In addition, OCR will share a story about the genesis of the DEIA Dashboard project and the positive collaboration that got it off the ground. OCR will also share next steps, including how stakeholders will be able to access the dashboards and more importantly, how they can be used to highlight successes and promising practices, as well as shine a light on challenges.
Speaker:
FOIA is a fundamental tool for ensuring governmental transparency by allowing the public to make requests to government agencies to access government records. Transparency must be carefully balanced against the impact that disclosure may have on the effective operation of government. This session discusses Exemption 3, which allows the withholding of information prohibited from disclosure by another federal statute provided that certain conditions are met. This session will cover some common Exemption 3 statutes, both those used government-wide and those specific to the Commerce Department.
Speaker:
As artificial intelligence (AI) evolves, its intersection with open data stirs both anticipation and apprehension. This session explores Open Data in the Age of AI.
