The Vermont Historical Society uses census data in many of its exhibits. For example, at its museum in Montpelier, the exhibit, "Freedom and Unity: One Ideal, Many Stories" tells the story of Vermont through the lives of its inhabitants. At the society's Vermont Heritage Museum in Barre, VT, the exhibit "The Emergence of the Granite City, 1880–1940" explores the rapid growth of Barre in relation to its granite industry.
