Renton History Museum

The Renton History Museum is the repository for the history of greater Renton, WA. Jointly supported by the City of Renton and the Renton Historical Society, the museum's mission is to preserve, document, interpret, and educate about the history of greater Renton in ways that are accessible to diverse people of all ages.

One of the Renton History Museum's newest exhibits—"Frozen in Time"—used 1910 Census records, local maps, and the city directory to identify the people and businesses featured in rare glass plate negatives taken around July 4, 1909. In the exhibit image shown (right), the city directory names the husband as the owner of the Central Hotel, while the census revealed that the wife was actually the proprietor.
