Pella Historical Society and Museums

The Pella Historical Society and Museums (PHSM) in Pella, IA, is home to a variety of museums and exhibits highlighting the town's Dutch heritage. Their Historical Village includes a grist mill, general store, and working windmill, as well as the childhood home of "Wild West" lawmen and O.K. Corral participants Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan Earp.

Staff at the PHSM use the historic census data and records of Pella's residents (like the Earp brothers) to develop exhibits and programs showcasing the town's history. In addition, data collected by more recent decennial and economic censuses prove invaluable during local, state, and federal grant-writing processes, since its breadth and accuracy cannot be reproduced from other sources.
