An exhibit by artist Norwood Viviano at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, VA, depicts the rise and decline of 25 urban centers in blown glass. Titled "Cities: Departure and Deviation," the artist used census data to create visualizations of not only population but also industrial changes in each city. The length of each form depicts time, the width describes population density, and a shift in color indicates a period of significant change. On the wall beside each model is a graphic depiction providing details of the population numbers.
