2030 Census Advisory Committee (2030 CAC)

The 2030 Census Advisory Committee (2030 CAC) will review and provide feedback related to 2030 Census plans and execution to assist the Census Bureau to devise strategies to increase census awareness and participation, reduce barriers to response, and enhance the public’s trust and willingness to respond.

The 2030 CAC will provide insight, perspectives, and expertise through recommendations on planning and implementation of the 2030 Census to advise the Census Bureau in conducting an accurate decennial census. The 2030 CAC will provide the Director of the Census Bureau periodic updates on insights regarding various topics relating to preparation for the 2030 Census.  

The committee members will each serve a three-year term and may serve an additional term at the director's discretion.

Charter

The 2030 CAC was established under the two-year charter policy. Committee objectives, membership, administrative provisions, and duration are outlined in the charter. 

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

The 2030 CAC standard operating procedures provide step-by-step instructions and guidelines on committee management to assist the Advisory Committee Branch in fulfilling routine committee operations.

Committee Members

The 2030 CAC consists of 23 members representing stakeholder organizations, groups, interest, and viewpoints. The 2030 CAC membership is a blend of representatives from the public and private sectors. 

Their experience and expertise is in census and survey matters, including but not limited to: 1) historically undercounted populations; 2) national, state, local, and tribal areas; 3) redistricting including interactions with state officials and redistricting experts; 4) international and national statistics; 5) geospatial information; 6) census involvement and needs of community-based organizations and academia; 7) the business and technology sectors; and 8) marketing and media sectors. The Director of the Census Bureau appoints the 2030 CAC Chair and Vice Chair from among the membership to one-year terms. In addition, there are non-voting ex officio members representing federal agencies with programmatic interests related to the decennial census. 

The diverse membership assures perspectives and expertise reflecting the breadth of the 2030 CAC responsibilities.
