Collections of Information and Federal Register Notices

Public Law 104-13, The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA) governs federal collections of information. Collections of information must be submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval under the PRA before they may be conducted. OMB maintains a list of pending and approved collections of information at www.reginfo.gov. The following links take you to Census Bureau collections at that site.

The Census Bureau publishes notices informing the public of our collections of information and other activities in the Federal Register. Use the links below to access Census Bureau notices in the Federal Register.

Under 44 U.S.C. 3506(e) and 13 U.S.C. Section 9, the U.S. Census Bureau has revised the confidentiality pledge it provides to its respondents under Title 13, United States Code, Section 9. The revision is required by the passage and implementation of provisions of the Federal Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2015 (H.R. 2029, Division N, Title II, Subtitle B, Sec. 223), which permit and require the Secretary of Homeland Security to provide Federal civilian agencies' information technology systems with cybersecurity protection for their Internet traffic. A Federal Register Notice with additional information regarding the Census Bureau's revised confidentiality pledge was published on December 23, 2016 (81 FR 94321, pages 94321-94324).
