FEB. 28, 2024 — The U.S. Census Bureau today released the final, full set of errata tables for the 2020 Census Count Question Resolution (CQR) program.
The CQR operation gave tribal, state and local governments the opportunity to ask the Census Bureau to review their boundaries or housing counts to identify errors that may have occurred while processing their 2020 Census counts.
The Census Bureau accepted 104 of the 123 cases received for research. After reviewing the cases, there were two states with a change at the state level, 21 states with a change at the governmental unit level and 30 states with a change at the tract and block level. Overall, a total of 148 governmental units in the United States were affected by CQR.
The following table shows the types of tables available for each state:

Corrected 2020 Census counts are organized by state. Governmental unit and tract and block tables are available only for states where there was a CQR change at those levels. There was no change in totals for the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Indian Areas, Alaska Native Areas, and Hawaiian Home Lands.
The Census Bureau will incorporate the corrected counts in the annual population estimates. The Vintage 2023 estimates, available this year, incorporate CQR results decided earlier in the process. Currently, state and national level Vintage 2023 estimates are available, with county and metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas scheduled for release in March. Now that the CQR program is complete, all remaining results will be incorporated in the forthcoming Vintage 2024 estimates scheduled for release from December 2024 through June 2025. More information is available in the full release schedule for the population estimates.
The population estimates are also used by the American Community Survey to adjust the survey’s population totals at the incorporated place, minor civil division and county level. The Census Bureau will not incorporate CQR revisions into the 2020 Census data summary files and tables or retabulate any of the other 2020 Census data products.
More information about the CQR operation is available on the 2020 Census Count Question Resolution Operation webpage. CQR errata tables with original and corrected housing and population counts are available on the 2020 Decennial Census Errata webpage.
