Career Spotlights

Shalise, Economist, Social, Economic, and Housing Statistics Division

"The Bureau’s leadership both empowers individuals to develop new ideas and provides the requisite tools and resources to see those ideas through. That encouragement and support fosters the collaborative environment that enables me to either start or join the projects that I find most interesting."

Scott, Statistician (Data Scientist), Office of Survey and Census Analytics

"My greatest sense of pride comes when I see a big change in the quality of new incoming data after identifying a problem. It’s incredibly rewarding to see that an action I’ve taken has improved the data quality, which is really the representation of dozens, hundreds or sometimes even thousands of Americans."

Sonia, Survey Statistician, Decennial Census Management Division

"I started as a Demographer in the Demographic Directorate. My job as a Branch Chief and project manager provides me the opportunity to work with people from different areas such as, Geography, IT, and contractors to be the liaison between the Census Bureau and many local and state partners, create new online applications, and lead of one of the many operations of the Decennial Census."
